“SkyLIGHT” Series

Taking many trips between Toronto and Brockville, I began to connect with the trees and skies passing before me. Something was triggered – perhaps a collection of memories from my distant past – and I realized that I was having a childhood romance with the landscapes of rural Ontario.

I wanted to photograph these landscapes - but as if I was looking at them through the filter of childhood. I engineered a language of manipulation - initially in the camera and later thorough-out the printing process that resembles and attempts to capture the lyricism of super-8 film, painting and memory.

Ultimately I wanted to draw a connection to the great romantic unknown and illustrate the idea of spirituality in nature..
